Times Square, New York City: Three mediums have gathered for a live broadcast on network television. They believe they have found a way to broaden the connection with the afterlife so that every single spirit linked to physical remains within a three hundred mile radius will be able to come through, briefly, to speak to their grieving loved ones. It sounds like a miracle.
What happens next is a nightmare.
On live television, the trio begins their meditation. They call out to the spirits around them, and are answered. The three mediums go wide-eyed, slack-jawed - catatonic. The grip they have on one another's hands, in traditional séance fashion, cannot be broken by anyone. And in the few tiny cemeteries on Manhattan island, fragments of old corpses dig themselves out of the ground...
